<abstract displayLabel="Abstract">Cuando el PNV se implantó por primera vez en Vitoria en 1907, casi nadie podía prever que terminaría convirtiéndose, cien años después. en un exitoso y heterogéneo movimiento social. Pese a esta expansión, Álava ha estado casi siempre en "tierra de nadie", entre Vizcaya y Guipúzcoa, predominantemente nacionalistas, y Navarra, más reacia a esa identidad nacional vasca.</abstract>
